Colin Wilson's Ritual in the Dark was his first novel written in the 1950s. The story revolves around a man called Gerard Sorme who is in relationships with two women at the same time and suspects his friend of murdering Prostitutes in the same area as Jack the Ripper's murders. However, the writing is stiff and repetitive, making it challenging to understand without quotation marks, the lack of which confused the reader many times. The book fails to be a successful murder mystery or a novel about sexual relationships.
