What is the size and weight of the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet?

The E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet features a wingspan of approximately 30.7 inches and an overall length of around 30.5 inches. It is designed to be lightweight, typically weighing about 2.2 pounds when ready to fly. This size makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor flights, allowing for agile maneuvers and stable performance. It’s a great choice for both novice and experienced pilots looking to enjoy thrilling flights in varied environments.

What is AS3X and how does it enhance flight performance?

AS3X, or Active Stabilization 3-axis, is a technology integrated into the E-flite Viper that helps to mitigate the effects of wind and turbulence. This system utilizes onboard sensors to detect aircraft attitude and automatically makes precise control surface adjustments, resulting in smoother flight experiences. For pilots, this means more confidence during flight, especially in challenging conditions, enabling them to focus on mastering advanced flying techniques without worrying about stability.

What is Safe Select and how does it benefit beginners?

Safe Select is a feature that provides an additional layer of safety for pilots new to flying jets. When activated, it allows for limits on bank angles and prevents unintentional loss of control. This ensures that the aircraft remains manageable and allows beginners to practice flying with less risk. Pilots can gain confidence and skill, gradually moving from novice-friendly modes to fully unleashing the aircraft's capabilities as they advance.

Is the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet suitable for intermediate pilots?

Yes, the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet can be a suitable option for intermediate pilots. While equipped with beginner-friendly features like AS3X and Safe Select, it also offers the performance and handling that experienced pilots seek. These attributes allow intermediate flyers to refine their skills and perform more complex maneuvers, making it a versatile choice for users looking to progress in their flying journey.

What type of batteries does the E-flite Viper utilize?

The E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet requires a 3S 11.1V LiPo battery for optimal performance. This battery type provides the necessary power and efficiency to achieve impressive speeds and flight times. For best results, consider using a high-discharge rate battery, which will enhance the aircraft's responsiveness during flight. This setup is ideal for those looking to engage in fast-paced aerial action while maintaining adequate power for longer periods.

What materials is the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet made from?

The E-flite Viper is constructed primarily from durable EPO foam, which provides a balance of lightweight characteristics and robustness. This material helps the jet withstand the occasional bumps and impacts that can occur during flight or landings. Moreover, the foam design contributes to the jet's aerodynamic efficiency. The durable construction is perfect for users who want a robust model that can handle both advanced aerobatics and everyday flying.

Does the E-flite Viper come with retractable landing gear?

Yes, the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet is equipped with retractable landing gear, adding realism and enhanced performance during takeoffs and landings. This feature helps maintain aerodynamic efficiency by reducing drag once airborne. For pilots looking to practice takeoff and landing techniques, the retractable gear offers a more authentic flying experience, allowing for smooth landings on various surfaces without compromising the aircraft's sleek lines in the air.

How fast can the E-flite Viper 64mm EDF Jet fly?

The E-flite Viper can achieve speeds of over 80 mph, thanks to its powerful EDF (electric ducted fan) system. This impressive speed allows for exhilarating flight experiences, characterized by quick maneuvers and stunning aerobatics. For experienced pilots, this capability provides an adrenaline rush during each flight and makes it suitable for competitive flying events. Newer pilots should practice controlling the speed effectively to ensure safe and enjoyable flights.

How do I set up the E-flite Viper for first-time use?

Setting up the E-flite Viper involves assembling the wings, connecting the control surfaces, and binding the included transmitter. First, carefully attach the wings and ensure all connections are secure. Then, bind the aircraft with your transmitter following the manufacturer’s instructions. Before your first flight, conduct a pre-flight check to verify control responses and battery levels. This preparation ensures a smooth and successful inaugural flight, giving you confidence in the setup.
