مراجعة تحريرية
**** The latest thriller by Shari Lapena delves into the intricate web of human nature and deceit within a seemingly ordinary neighborhood. The narrative kicks off with a murder, setting the stage for a story that, while not bursting with high-octane thrills, unfolds with an engaging and digestible pace. Readers appreciate Lapena's adept writing style, which features easily manageable chapter lengths that allow for quick reading sessions, making the novel accessible to a wide audience. A critical aspect of the book is its character development and the interplay of perspectives. With multiple third-person limited viewpoints, Lapena intricately Constructs a landscape of secrets and lies among the neighbors, highlighting the theme of distrust. Several readers felt that they could pinpoint the killer's identity ahead of time, experiencing the pleasure of correctly predicting a twist—though the unfolding of the motive still provided some surprises. However, the novel has its detractors, with some readers expressing dissatisfaction with the characterization, arguing that none of the characters are particularly likable or relatable. Criticism extends to the predictability of the genre’s tropes and the execution of the plot, particularly in the resolution that leaves some threads unresolved. Despite these critiques, many readers seem to appreciate the overall craft of the book and Lapena’s storytelling ability. Overall, the reception of this book shows that while it may not be the author’s strongest work, it still delivers an engaging read filled with the twists and character dynamics that fans have come to expect from Shari Lapena. **
