The sheath of the knife is secure, and it takes an intentional motion to remove the knife from it. However, the knife only comes with the sheath, and straps need to be purchased separately. The sheath has two screw attachments that allow mounting on a BCD directly. Still, grommet holes may be suggested to prevent the fabric from unraveling.
