Action & Adventure Editorial Review
American Made is a biographical comedy-drama film based on the life of Barry Seal, a former TWA pilot who became a drug smuggler for the Medellín Cartel in the 1980s. The movie stars Tom Cruise in the lead role and is directed by Doug Liman. The plot of the movie follows Barry Seal, who is recruited by the CIA to take covert photos of Communist activities in Central America. However, he soon finds himself working for drug lord Pablo Escobar and his top lieutenant, Jorge Ochoa. Seal uses his aviation skills to transport drugs and money across the world and becomes a wealthy man in the process. However, he soon attracts the attention of the DEA, FBI, and even the White House, which puts his life and his family's in danger. Overall, American Made is an enjoyable movie that combines action, comedy, and drama. The movie moves at a brisk pace and keeps you engaged from start to finish. Tom Cruise delivers a convincing performance as Barry Seal, and the supporting cast also does a good job. The movie also has some great music and cinematography, which adds to its entertainment value. However, the movie does have some flaws. The plot, while based on a true story, seems a bit too far-fetched at times, and the characterization is a bit thin. Additionally, some of the jokes fall flat, and the movie's ultimate message is a bit muddled.
