Infinity Crusade, Vol. 1 Paperback – July 10, 2012

** Infinity Crusade, Vol. 1** Infinity Crusade, Vol. 1 invites readers back into the cosmic conflict first spun out by Jim Starlin, but the reception of this volume has been a mixed bag. Fans of the Infinity series might appreciate the nostalgia, as it retains that quintessential '90s comic book flair with its dramatic arts and intense storylines. However, potential buyers should be warned - this volume is only the beginning of a two-part story, which can be misleading when compared to the previous Infinity installments. The artistry has drawn sharply divided opinions; while certain readers valued the retro aesthetic complete with characteristic '90s energy -- complete with dramatic poses and emotional expressions -- others criticized the artwork as being subpar, especially when judged against contemporary standards. Some found the character designs monotonous, with stilted poses and repetitive features. On the storytelling front, opinions vary widely. For some, the plot’s exploration of good versus evil and its somewhat preachy tone offers a compelling narrative that fits the larger Marvel cosmos. Yet, for others, it comes off as excessively overdramatic and predictable. The integration of tie-in stories from the Infinity Watch series also muddles the primary narrative for some readers, detracting from their immersion in the main storyline. In conclusion, while Infinity Crusade, Vol. 1 contains moments that resonate with long-time Marvel fans, its appeal may primarily lie with completists or those nostalgic for the original saga's tone and style. Newcomers or those seeking higher-caliber art and narratives may want to approach with caution. **
